The Telethon Scientific Committee is composed of scientists of international standing, serving a  four-year term. To minimize potential conflicts of interest, Italian members working in Italy are kept to a minimum. Currently there are 30 members, 3 of which are Italian (one currently working in Italy, 2 abroad).

For the evaluation of proposals, the Scientific Committee uses the peer-review process. Before the plenary discussion, each proposed project is evaluated by three members of the committee and at least two external referees chosen from scientists working in the international arena. It is an indispensable  procedure which leads to only the best projects being chosen for funding.

Members of the Scientific Committee are also entrusted to periodically evaluate the work of researchers who work in the Telethon institutions. Here is a list of our current members:
