The Telethon Scientific Convention is the biennial showcase for excellent Italian scientific research in the field of genetic diseases.

All the currently (approximately 700) Telethon-funded scientists gather from all over Italy in a huge scientific meeting to share updates on Telethon's research, highlight progress and discuss its future prospects. The Convention represents an exceptional occasion to verify, compare and exchange scientific information and is an excellent chance for researchers to set up new scientific collaborations and plan innovative research at the international level.

The scientific program includes workshops on forefront topics on genetic diseases, with invited lectures by international speakers and poster sessions where all grantees present an update of their projects.

The Abstract Book of the Telethon Scientific Convention is published in both Italian and English and is available, on request, from convention@telethon.it.

Since 2009, the Telethon Scientific Convention has hosted a parallel meeting dedicated to the Italian Patient Associations that are involved in the fight against rare genetic diseases and share the same values and goals of Telethon. Patients and their associations are among Telethon's major stakeholders and provide invaluable support. Most importantly, associations endorse Telethon among patients, therefore, this initiative is aimed at promoting their awareness of Telethon's scientific activities and achievements and at facilitating the contact and interaction between patients and scientists.
