Telethon Foundation
The Telethon Foundation is a non-profit organization officially recognized by the Ministry of Education, Universities and Research.
Its principal activities are the following:
- Raising funds and assigning those funds to research projects through a rigorous evaluation process approved by an independent and international Scientific Committee;
- Managing its internal research institutes (TIGEM, HSR-TIGET, DTI and Tecnothon);
- Directly managing research funds assigned to external institutes (universities, nursing and care institutions of a scientific nature, hospitals and other research institutes). In these cases scientists entrust the Telethon Foundation with the financial management of fellowships and the purchasing of products and services necessary to their research products.
The Board of Directors
The Board of Directors is composed of Luca di Montezemolo, as President, Omero Toso (Vice-President), Francesca Pasinelli (General Manager), Carlo Ferdinando Carnacini, Salvatore Di Mauro, Alberto Fontana, Luca Garavoglia, Carlo Pontecorvo and Isabella Serà gnoli. Four advisory bodies and Telethon’s four internal research institutes are answerable to the Board.
Advisory Bodies
The advisory bodies are: the Board of Auditors, which monitors compliance with the law and the constitution, the respect for the principles of good management, and organizational adequacy of the administrative and accounting systems in place; the External Auditor who ensures the proper keeping of the social accounting, the accounting records and verification of the compliance with the financial regulations governing its activity: the Scientific Committee, which holds a key role in the evaluation of scientific projects to be funded; the Scientific Advisory Board, which supports the choices of direction and management of the Board of Directors in the field of biomedical research.
